Hello! And welcome to my little Author's Note section for "Colony of Wonders". Here I'll be writing about all sorts of things, like why I characterized someone a certain way, or little trivia. I'll also be archiving my AO3 notes here, just in case.

『CHAPTER 1 - SPAGONIAN PROLOGUE』

Robotnik Family Names

One of the first things I tried to do was find a connecting thread between the names "Maria", "Ivo", and "Gerald". The FIRST one I found was that they all happen to be the names of saints so I thought it would be funny to continue the trend. I'll point them out as they appear later, but Maria's father, Thomas, was named after one of the patron saints of teachers. This doesn't mean that I'll be writing them as catholic though LMAO, just thought I'd follow the pattern. I have 4 names and 3 of them are names of saints, only 2 of which were intentional, so it doesn't necessarily have to mean anything. (YES one of them is literally María)

Geography

To make it easy on myself, I'll be referencing the Archie Sonic Map a LOT, but it doesn't mean that it's 1:1. And this doesn't take place in Archie comic canon, I'm trying to stick as close to game canon as I can, while sprinkling in headcanons and such.

Islanders and not Mobians?

In my efforts to stay close to game canon, I've banned myself from using "Mobian". In one of the TailsTube videos, they say that humans live on the big continents, while Sonic and everyone else lives on islands, so, Islanders.

Maria's bookmark

The flower in Maria's bookmark is an Anemone! It was a flower carried to ward off disease and bad luck, while in Eastern cultures it can mean illness or ill tidings. Something I thought fitting for Maria.

Archive AO3 Notes [10/11/2024]

GODDD this took me SO long to edit. i wrote it in a couple of days but i put off editing it for like a week. i finished replaying signalis for halloween and the game wouldn't leave my mind so i couldn't work on anything after it lol. also unlike my kh fic, this doesn't really have an outline so idk how long it'll be, but it'll be fun! ideally, this will extend to SA2 onwards and become shadow-centric as well :)
